How IwillifWecan works

By pledging to support a project through IwillifWecan, you tell the world:

"I will help if, together, We can reach the goal!"

1. The project shares their long-term vision of what they could achieve with optimal funding.
2. They set and explain their "Goal 1" for monthly funding.

   • It's the smallest increase that will make a meaningful difference. As Lao Tzu said, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
3. You pledge an amount that you're willing to donate monthly when enough others join you to reach Goal 1 together.

   • This makes you a "Goal 1 Patron"!
4. Until the goal is reached, you donate just $1/year through OpenCollective.com, and put a specific pledge message in your OpenCollective profile.

   • This shows you mean it and gets the setup steps out of the way.
5. The crowd grows as you and others spread the word about how empowering it will be to donate together—connected and coordinated.

   • You can check progress anytime on the project's IwillifWecan page.
   • The project may also email you updates periodically (if you opt in).
6. When the goal is reached, the project will email you the good news, and ask you to make good on your pledge.

   • You'll simply update your recurring donation and pledge message at OpenCollective.com.
   • You can see the crowd's follow-through on the project's IwillifWecan page, so you know you really are donating together.
7. After celebrating, the project will set their next goal, Goal 2.

   • As a Goal 1 patron, your donation remains the same regardless of Goal 2.
   • However, if you wish, you can pledge to increase your donation when Goal 2 is reached. That would make you a Goal 2 patron too!
8. This process repeats and, before you know it, the project reaches their optimal funding level and the world is a better place—thanks to you and your fellow Iwillifwecan patrons!
